Chicago-born singer-songwriter James Bowers is set to release his first studio-recorded EP, Celia, available June 19th through Common Market Records.
After becoming proficient at piano by just ten years old, Bowers dreamed of mastering the guitar so that he could play the music of his rock ‘n’ roll heroes. Getting his first guitar marked the beginning of Bowers’ career as a musician. His first album was written and recorded near his home in Chicago: a solo effort with Bowers’ soaring, yet intimate vocals and guitar, with hints of violin peppered throughout. He later moved to Hollywood to pursue his ambition and landed his first gig at the famous Hotel Café. It was there he met Paul Broucek of Warner Bros., who would later sign him upon founding Common Market Records.
Bowers is currently shoulder-to-the-wheel in Los Angeles, creating plaintive, folk-inspired songs that are alternately lush and intimately organic. The gems of Bowers’ music spin concise, literate tales of quiet everyday melancholy.
