Five Reasons the New York Knicks Will Be Better Next Season

Lin Won't Be Hanging His Head for Long

Alright so the New York Knicks made it to the NBA playoffs for the second straight year but didn’t make a dent.

With injuries plaguing the team throughout the season, inconsistency at point guard, believe it or not it wasn’t all bad.

Here are five good things the New York Knicks can take away from this season.

Tyson Chandler: He won Defensive Player of the Year, the only New York Knick to ever do so. The Knicks were rough and rugged in the 90s and are getting associated with defense once again.

Free Agents Look at the Knicks Now: With Chandler, Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire on the team, the Knicks are no longer ignored during the offseason. I wouldn’t be surprised if a solid role player was added this offseason. JR Smith signing in the middle of the season was clear proof of that.

Jeremy Lin: Lin showed us he can score, he showed he can pass and he showed us he can be a starting point guard. Then he got injured. His durability is a question mark but there shouldn’t be a question about whether Lin will open next season as the starting point guard.

Next season will be better: The Knicks would have easily won five to 10 more games if they had a consistent point guard all season long. Iman Shumpert isn’t a point guard, Baron Davis has lost more than a few steps, Mike Bibby is old and Toney Douglas needs to get cut. Knicks suffered throughout many games because there was no motion, the team was stagnant on offense a lot of the time.

Iman Shumpert: Easily the Knicks best defensive guard. He needs to be in the starting lineup and replace Landry Fields. Shumpert, please develop a consistent jumper in the offseason and you my friend are in the starting lineup.

These factors will lead to an even better season for the New York Knicks next season.

Do you think they’ll be better next year?
