Chandler Calls “Knicks’ Future Bright with Current Point Guards,” Winners? I Think Not

Chandler Calls Knicks’ Future Bright with Current Point Guards, Winners? I Think NotIn a recent article on Newsday.com, New York Knicks starting center, Tyson Chandler, said that his team’s “immediate future is brighter with the point guards they have now.”

Chandler is referring to newly acquired aging point guard, Jason Kidd, and the re-acquired, Raymond Felton.

Sure Chandler, while it is brighter, it won’t be full of championship rings, at least not this season.

Somehow the defending champions, Miami Heat, got even better with the addition of Ray Allen and the Los Angeles Lakers are a force to be reckon with the big man, Dwight Howard defending the rim in the paint.

It’s not too far fetched to see the Heat and Lakers battling in the NBA Finals.

So, sorry Knicks, even though you’re adding proven winners and champions such as Rasheed Wallace and Jason Kidd, I don’t think the stars are aligned this season.

They have “right” names on the court but that’s about it. Outside of Carmelo Anthony, youth and athleticism is lacking, not to mention intelligence.

The same aforementioned article also had a quote from guard, JR Smith, which boggled my mind.

“I would rather be a starter, but if that’s not in my cards, I understand,” Smith said. “It gets frustrating after a while when people see you as a sixth man, sixth man, sixth man, when you believe you’re a starter. But at the same time, you have to understand this is a team game. You have to put individual goals aside.”

Really Smith…really.
