Seattle’s resident storyteller and balladeer Bryan John Appleby will be hitting the road this fall when he supports The Head & The Heart on their last North American tour of 2012. In addition to being the opener for the tour, Bryan will also be the main supporting act for select dates on the west coast (see list of tour dates below). Prior to the tour, Bryan and his band will be taking the stage at this year’s Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival on Monday September 3rd. He is scheduled to play at 6 p.m. on the Promenade Stage as well as a special performance for Free Yr Radio and KEXP on their outdoor stage at 3:30 p.m.
Bryan John Appleby wasn’t always interested in writing his own music. In reality, he was a drummer by trade, relocating from sunny Santa Cruz California in order to take music more seriously with his band at the time. After the disintegration of the group, Bryan was left to make a decision. Was he to continue his pursuit of drumming or was it time for him to carve out his own piece of the Seattle music scene? With an acoustic guitar in hand, Bryan started writing and performing his own style of novel inspired folk music around the city. After releasing his first EP Shoes for Men and Beasts, Bryan gained some local attention when he released his first live take away performance for the single “Cliffs Along The Sea” which you can watch here.
Soon after, Bryan released his full length album Fire on the Vine in 2011. A handful of sold out shows later, Bryan has shared the stage with the likes of Damien Jurado, Deep Sea Diver, Pickwick, Lemolo and The Head & The Heart. Bryan continues to play his unique style of story driven folk ballads, winning over new audiences at every show.
In addition to Bryan, The Head & The Heart will be joined by Sub Pop’s Blitzen Trapper and local Seattle band Curtains for You who are opening the tour on select dates (see below). The tour kicks off at the legendary Paramount Theater on September 15th where Bryan will be the main supporting act.
