This past summer, Blitzen Trapper released videos for American Goldwing tracks “Stranger in a Strange Land” and “Girl In A Coat”.  For the “Stranger in a Strange Land” clip, filmmaker Luke Norby along with the help of Blitzen Trapper drummer Brian Koch compiled a series Norby’s incidental shots including shivery hand held pans in 20 below zero conditions and segments from a sweeping driving shot that Norby shot from the back of a truck in 2010.

The “Girl In A Coat” clip was directed by Daniel Elkayam (Blitzen Trapper’s “Black River Killer” & “The Tree”) and stars band drummer Brian Koch and his grandfather, Arthur Koch.  Brian Koch, who also wrote and produced the video, stated “Four years ago I interviewed my Grandfather at the age of 96 to talk about his life.  I was struck by how, even though so much had become blurry, confused or completely fallen away from his memory, some things remained.  Just shy of his 100th birthday, Daniel and I began to create a video from my Grandfather’s perspective, blurring the boundaries of time and space in memory.  ”Girl In A Coat,” with its wearied narrative of retrospection, seemed the perfect match for the concept.”

What people are saying about Blitzen Trapper:

“Blitzen Trapper’s Eric Earley performs the amazing feat of making alt-country seem fresh on the band’s gripping sixth album. This Portland, Oregon quintet has long excelled at energizing rootsy sounds with trashy noise, but Earley’s true trump card is smart, vivid songwriting that transcends genres.” - SPIN Magazine

“It’s a simplistic but intoxicating roots fantasy – full of Dylan mysticism, spidery acoustic Dead jamming, tasty 1970s rock moves and evocations of high-plains drifters with itchy trigger fingers drinking from jam jars.“ – Rolling Stone

“The stories here are the stuff of swamp rock legend: Characters are drinking too much whiskey late at night, fantasizing about loving or leaving the finest women in town, returning home, and piecing together the wonders of the natural world… Blitzen Trapper has once again succeeded in crafting an album that fits with the classics.” - Under the Radar
