Sausage lovers should bring their arteries to the Openhouse Gallery on August 4th. They’re having a bratwurst pop-up with some of the best that New York City has to offer.
Openhouse is calling it the Best of the Wurst. It’s a one day event featuring such ‘wurst from Kurt Gutenbrunner’s Blaue Gans, der Kommissar, Esposito’s, Katz’s Delicatessen, Pete Zaaz & Open Kitchen and Schaller & Weber.
There will be a variety of ‘wurst there. Currywurst, knockwurst, kasekrainer, merguez, Italian, Moroccan to Austria will be available for your tongue’s delight.
Sadly all this meat and beer (it comes with one Radeberger Pilsner tallboy) doesn’t come free. There are one-hour sessions between 12 and 8 p.m. Tickets for each session cost $35. All visitors will also be able to vote for their favorite bratwurst in NYC.
I attended their grilled cheese event, which has the same concept of finding the best in NYC, and it’s run pretty efficiently. It never gets too crowded and surprisingly well organized considering how much there is to offer.
Tickets go on sale for the event today.
Openhouse Gallery is located at 379 Broome St.
In case you haven’t got what I am getting at here, maybe you’ve had too much sausage all ready just reading this, GOOO to the Best of the Wurst.
