Movie Review: KLOWN

It’s been called “the funniest movie of the year” by IFC.com. It’s been said to have elements of Louie and The Office by We Are Movie Geeks on top of that.

I’m not going to call it the funniest movie of the year but it definitely delivers some laughs. I’d call it a more realistic version of The Hangover. There are no mobs, forgetful nights, just a lot of awkwardness that leads to a whole lot of funny moments.

There are tiny penises involved, gay sex and a whole lot of weed-smoking too but that actually all comes second to the main character, Frank, trying to prove his fatherhood. He tries to do so in the oddest way possible.

Frank has a hard time thinking for himself and that gets him into trouble because one of his closest friends is Casper. Casper is a sex-crazed maniac that also happens to be married. Casper is all set to go on a “tour de pussy,” and takes Frank along with him unbeknownst to their women. Madness and hilarity ensues.

Overall, the writing is top notch and acting is pretty good too (believe it or not the dialogue is improvised) but one thing that has to be commended is cast and crew and their willingness to take perversion to a whole other level that we haven’t seen in America (it’s a Danish comedy).

If you aren’t buying the hype, Warner Bros has acquired the rights to film that the hilarious Danny McBride (he seems to only deal with the funny) and producer Todd Phillips will be a part affiliated with.

KLOWN will be released theatrically and on VOD July 27th. The film only runs 90 minutes so don’t blink too much or you just might miss some funny.

Below is the red band trailer for KLOWN…you’ve been warned!
