Who ever would have thought a love story mixed in with an alien presence would actually work?

Well it does in Extraterrestrial, which is due out in theatres on June 15th.

Directed by Nacho Vigalondo, it stars the sexy Michelle Jenner as Julia and Julian Villagran as Julio.

The two wake up together after a night of partying in what seems to be a one-night stand, but things get interesting when they notice an alien spaceship hovering over their city. Things get even more interesting when Julia’s boyfriend pops up at the door while Julio is still in the apartment. If that wasn’t chaotic enough, there is a creepy next-door neighbor who is clearly into Julia.

The tension of having an alien spaceship in the neighborhood causes the people in this love triangle to do things they probably wouldn’t have done otherwise. People turn on each other leading to interesting scenes and some quality acting.

Why was it good? They didn’t even utilize the alien space ship that much, but you could still feel its presence in everybody’s behavior. It’s one of the most original films I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s got sci-fi, romance, and even comedic moments. Somehow they make it work. Did I mention it’s a foreign film?

Definitely a great job to everybody involved.

Everybody had their moments in Extraterrestrial but Jenner definitely stood out in this film. Her ability to capture each scene will keep you glued to the screen. Her film resume isn’t long but its safe to say we’re going to see more of her as time progresses.

The 2011 Toronto International Film Festival entrant will be in select theaters on June 15th. It’s going to be available in NYC, Seattle, Austin. It’s going to open in Los Angeles on June 22nd. The New York viewing will be available in Brooklyn’s reRun’s Gastropub Theater.
