In yet another movie about about friends hooking up in an attempt to make a baby, we’ve got Gayby.
Written and directed by Jonathan Lisecki, it’s due out October 12th in New York and the 26th in Los Angeles.
The film stars Jenn Harris and Matthew Wilkas. They play Jenn and Matt, best friends from college and in their thirties. They decide to go through on their college pact of having a child together. There is a twist though.
Matt is a gay and Jenn wants to conceive the child, not from a cup, but the old fashion way, sex.
You think the movie would be a little funnier than say, Friends with Kids (which you should watch instead, the cast is far superior), but Gaybe falls drastically short. I didn’t laugh once when watching the Gayby movie trailer.
The 89-minute film distributed from Wolfe Releasing just doesn’t make me laugh. This is one film I will avoid in the theaters, through Netflix and on TV.
I suggest you do the same.
Aside from the aforementioned actors, it also stars Mike Doyle, Anna Margaret Hollyman, Jack Ferver, Jonathan Lisecki, Alycia Delmore, Adam Driver and Dulé Hill.
I hope this is the last friends-making-baby movie.

Saw Gayby at sxsw. It’s hilarious. And way better than that putrid Friends with Kids. It’s also based on a short that came out two years before that film.
