Out August 17th is Compliance (Compliance movie trailer above), an intense indie film that should be on everyone’s must-see list.
It’s actually based on a true story about a woman who takes following authority a little too far.
The film stars Ann Dowd (Garden State), she plays Sandra, a manager at the local ChickWich. She gets a call from a police officer saying one of her employees, Becky (played by Dreama Walker) has stolen money from a customer. Sandra believes she’s doing the right thing, some really odd things to Becky that are invasive, because the officer on the phone is telling her to do so.
It’s bugged out just how scary reality can be sometimes I’m talking even without guns and knives.. It’s almost as scary as a horror film.
Ann Dowd’s performance in Compliance was called one the best of the summer by the New York Times.
All the signs are pointing to a great thought-provoking movie that most won’t forget.
I’m definitely going to check it out.
It’s an official 2012 selection at the SXSW Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival. It runs 90 minutes long and is written and directed by Craig Zobel. Pat Healy also stars in Compliance.
