American Animal Coming to Village East

American Animal is coming to Village East in New York City. The film is set to open on May 18th.

A national rollout is expected to follow.

The film did pretty well at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival.

If you check out the trailer (above) you’ll see it tells a story of two roommates, Jimmy (played by Matt D’Elia) and James (played by Brendan Fletcher). They hit a crossroads when James has to leave in the morning for his new job. Over the course of a night is where the entertainment begins.

It’s definitely a play on the pressures of society to ‘grow up.’

It’s written and directed by D’Elia and stars the aforementioned D’Elia, Fletcher, Mircea Monroe and Angelea Sarayfan. It’s dark comedy (which me made think of Fight Club) that runs 95 minutes. Screen Media Films is the distributor.

No word on how long the film’s run at Village East will be but it’s a fun theatre. Popcorn and soda won’t leave a dent in your wallet like most other movie theatres. The screens are reasonable sized and the seats pretty comfortable.

If you’re looking to get away from the snobs that come to the Angelika, Village East is the place to go.

Be sure to come back and check out the American Animal movie review.
