As last Thursday’s Impact Wrestling ending showed, they still don’t know what they’re doing yet. But a huge bright spot that keeps me tuning in every week to TNA is “The Greatest Man that Ever Lived.”
Austin Aries is definitely at the top of the wrestling game in many ways. He doesn’t need a mic to get the crowd stirring, his incomparable wrestling talent is enough to keep people at home and in the arena glued to the match. You can hear the passion in his voice, he knows what he’s doing. His mic skills though not excellent, aren’t too shabby either. If double A could somehow take his mic skills to the level of CM Punk’s famous promo, Aries will be an unstoppable, marketable force.
I can’t think of anyone in TNA or WWE that could lace his boots really. John Cena? Come on, that’s not even a comparison. Randy Orton? He’s just so boring and kind of weird to be honest with you. Triple H? He may be able to hang but he is old news now. Bobby Roode? He’s a gamer but he’s still a little too stiff in the ring for my taste and he’s never really finished anyone off without using some illegal means. That shows creative doesn’t buy in to his wrestling ability enough. Two people can hang with Austin Aries and they’re both former Ring of Honor talents, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. CM Punk is awesome, but he looks like he needs a couple of months off. Bryan is just getting started and is on the brink of his prime. That leaves this current wrestling world to Aries at the moment.
He’s getting his world title match at Destination X but chances are he probably won’t win the big one because he’s a gamble. I say that because TNA and the WWE are full of ‘big guys’ that make Aries look too tiny. Time and time again TNA creative drop the ball. It’s up to the “Greatest Man that Ever Lived” to show he is main event talent, he is world championship material and put the fans in his pocket. He did it in Ring of Honor and I’m sure he won’t be disappointing us at Destination X.
The funny thing is, gambles are how you go places! TNA, put your chips on Aries.
