It’s a 12-track LP that features hits from three critically acclaimed albums, including As Good As Dead and Pack Up the Cats as well as unreleased and alternative versions of songs, “Tag Along,” “Mayonnaise and Malaise (Radio Edit),” and “Smothered in Hugs,” which is a Guided By Voices cover.
Local H, an indie rock band out of Chicago, a two-man power rock duo that has been around the music game for a very long time and doesn’t come by recognition for their craft very often.
It’s nice to see them get the merit they deserve, a band that constantly gives back to their fans and are embarking on a “singles tour” to promote their greatest hits record.
The band has a cult following that only continues to grow, I discovered Local H a little over a year ago and have been rocking them in my headphones ever since.
I may have not started the journey with Local H when they began but The Island Years is the perfect record for someone looking to get into them.
The album has got some awesome songs on it, “High-Fiving MF.” “Eddie Vedder” and “All-Right (Oh, Yeah).” They make you just want to turn that volume knob until you can’t turn it anymore and do your best air guitar! Scott Lucas showcases his pipes, the precision on the drums and jaw-grinding riffs are often imitated these days but never replicated. Great band.
Hopefully this is the first of many more occasions where Local H gets noticed for what they do, kick ass, rock out, and always give you a good show in the process.
