Looking to get away from the usual movie and popcorn and want some live theater? Wait, want to avoid the slow walkers blocking the sidewalks known as tourists on top of that?
Well you’re in luck, here is a list of three great places to take in an off-Broadway show in New York City.
The Players Theatre: This venue is a great theater, there isn’t one bad seat in the place. It seats up to 248 people. It’s located in the heart of the West Village area too, so either before the show or after, you can grab a drink or get a tasty falafel at the famous Mamoun’s. There is always a plan b only a few steps away. Such big names like Brittany Spears, Natalie Portman have performed in the The Players Theatre. Metropolitan Playhouse: This playhouse is in another great location. Based on 4th street between Avenue A and B, you can find yourself surrounded by art and artsy people. The playhouse is also partnered with several restaurants in the neighborhood, so if you can plan ahead of time you can have yourself primed for a nice date gentlemen. La MaMa: La MaMa is in the same area as the Metropolitan Playhouse. Lots of great restaurants and bars surrounding the theater plus other entertaining options such as pool halls. The theater itself is a rather small space but puts on an endless list of great shows. It has bleacher-esque seating, so you won’t have any domes in your sight. It’s been open for over 50 years and is rich in culture and embodies New York. Location: 74A East 4th St., website: lamama.org.
