With the release of The American, we thought what better way to reminiscence over George Clooney’s career than with a trusty list of his top five best movies.
The former Roseanne actor has come along way, starred in some political thrillers and carried some franchises as well like Ocean’s Eleven.
Three Kings: Directed by David O. Russell, the 1999 film is about three soldiers looking to get rich quickly while in Iraq. Normally I try to stay away from movies that have rappers (Ice Cube) but this is a great movie. Even Mark Wahlberg is enjoyable in this movie. Political propaganda aside and regardless of Clooney playing ‘Clooney,’ time flies while taking in Three Kings.
Syriana: Clooney starred in this dramatic film directed by Stephen Gaghan. Clooney plays CIA agent Bob Barnes. The movie’s story revolves around oil, but this film is gold. Syriana had a great cast in Matt Damon and Jeffrey Wright. Watching the movie, you just can’t decide what’s better, the writing or the acting. Spoiler alert… in case you haven’t seen the 2005 film, Clooney dies from an explosion, apart of you just feels happy about it for some odd reason. If you love to hate Clooney or hate to love him, this jarring moving is for you.
O Brother, Where Art Thou?: O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a film that offers a different kind of Clooney from the suave lothario we usually see. Clooney plays a country bumpkin named Everett who somehow escapes prison in an attempt to get back some money from a bank robbery he did. The film was a product of the Coen Brothers, it was directed by Joel Coen in 2000.
Ocean’s Eleven: We’ve all seen this movie right? Who hasn’t? If you haven’t, you’re missing out on some quality talent coming together in a remake of the Frank Sinatra Ocean’s Eleven. Clooney plays Danny Ocean, a con man who comes up with a plot to steal from some of the largest casinos in Las Vegas. Ocean is one bad guy we don’t mind rooting for because his ex-girlfriend is dating one of the casino owners. The 2001 movie was directed by Steven Soderbergh.
From Dusk Till Dawn: This is one bad-ass movie. If you ever wanted to see Clooney with tattoos all over his body and kill a lot of people than you definitely want to see From Dusk Till Dawn. Clooney plays Seth Gecko in the 1996 movie directed by Robert Rodriguez. It’s also got Danny Trejo, it doesn’t get much cooler than that.

Michael Clayton! How can that not be on the list?! And if it wasn’t regulated to movies, ER would have to make it>
